About Us
The history of school
Post-war years of last century brought a
question of qualified preliminary of workers for forestry. Lumberjack courses
couldn’t cover enough want of qualified care of forestry. On the base of Forest
Head Office in Prague decision, was decided in 1949 about the building up of
The Labor Youth Center in Bzenec - Privoz. Good natural conditions and a
help of Forest Enterprise in Straznice decided of a location. The term of
building up was realized, so on the October the 1st the center was
inaugurated.
Then school building had only one floor.
According its model, the buildings in centers in Bila na Morave and
in Vimperk were built.
One year later the double dwelling house for
pedagogues lodgings was built up and at the same time garages and
workrooms were finished.
The first 51 school-leavers leaved in 1953. To
the date the 1st of September 1953 the center was renamed
to the Basic Forest Continuation School. There were even 12
girls of total number of 15 school-leavers in years 1953 -1955. In
years 1954 – 1955 the gym and the school park were built up.
From experience and needs of forest activity the
Forest and Wood Using Industry Service decided of foundation of a
school for education for foresters (keepers). The resolution of its
location fall just on our school. Forest workers with a minimal
three-year experience or forest training center’s – leavers after at
least one-year experience were admit to school. This Forestry
Mastery School lent to leavers secondary vocational education
without a graduation.
There studied mainly students from South and
North Moravia in daily two-year study there. Beside daily study were
instituted extramural studies for nonqualified foresters.
The building of the second floor of the head
building on the south side was done in 1957 and finished in 1961 on
the north side. At that time had the building look near-by present
one.
In sixties were built up shooting range with a
shooting box and in a conjunction with the hunting guild of Czech
Hunting Association in Hodonin was built up artificial fox earth
there.
On the 1st September 1971 the school
changed its name to FS – Forestry School.
On the 1st
September 1975 was established the Secondary Vocational School of
Forestry.
On the 1st September 2005 was changed
the name to the Secondary Vocational School of Forestry and
Fishery.
The present and the expectations
Since the year 1985 or school has come through
many renovations. Individual, back to back going building
investments have allowed creation of a new good-looking and spacious
grounds (campus) with all-round facilities, serving both needs of
students and its staff. There was built up modern housing unit with
needful building facilities. An original fire-room for solid fuels
was reconstructed to smokeless fuel – gas fired boiler house.
Another benefit for environmental cleanness was building up of high
performance sewerage plant. Beside needful grounds’ (campus’) routes
were subsequently created grassed areas with ornamental woods and
shrubs.
The building up of new Boarding houses, school
and in that next enlargement of workrooms, dressing rooms, dining -
hall and Boarding houses II were a significant investment.
The school has also a large gym, which serves
students beside education to sport utilization at their odd time. A
part of gym is a body building room for improving their physical
condition. All buildings are interconnected, so they are well
enterable in all weather.
School projects
Project Leonardo
There was an international meeting of various
European countries in Dierhagen (Germany) from 18th to 27th
July 2005 for purpose of elimination of language barriers and mutual
understanding. Our republic represented seven students with a
teacher conducting. Meeting was coming through in well-disposed
atmosphere by the Baltic seaside in leisure amenities of German
partner Start G.m.b.H. in a presence of students from Finland,
Hungary, Poland, Germany and Czech Republic. The main program was a
recognition cultural differentness of present state regions. Our
students presented South Moravian regions with a view to
microregions of Bzenec, Straznice and Bile Karpaty. Each group
performed to others their country for one evening. While serving
pork meat with dumpling and sauerkraut and singing national songs,
which were very enjoyed, were projected video-show of natural and
cultural sights and or people’s life. Our students commented that in
German and in English. Organizers took hold of this meeting in
sportsmanship too, so there run a lot of matches there. Our bois won
medals for 3rd place at beach volleyball and for a win in
football (soccer). But the biggest victory was the break out of
language barriers and continuation of friendship among young people
of all states. Exchanging of address, phones and e-mails did go
without saying. This fact valued esp. representatives of embassies,
who we visited on our trip to Berlin. Next remarkable experience for
our “over-lands “ was the visit of oceanographic museum and
salt-water fish aquarium in Stralsund.
We trust, this happy meeting wasn’t the last one
and that’s why we have been preparing next exchange meetings and
tours for young people.
At present are intensely prepared exchangeable
stays for our school students and students of our partner timber and
fishery school in Ludwigslust (Germany), which is a part of a school
complex in four cities – Berusbildungsstätte
Start G.m.b.H.
Next school,
which intensely negotiations about cooperation and exchange stays
are proceeding with, is the Second Technical School in Kragujevac
(Serbia). This school educates forest and timber specialists.
